Tonight was "The Speech" - and I must say, I knew going in that Barack Obama is an eloquent speaker, and I've listened to several of his speeches. But this one was "The Speech" that I was waiting for.
I honestly didn't think I'd be moved to tears, but I was.
A reason to hope.

He is an amazing speech writer and I loved every minute of it.
How I would have loved to be there to witness this in person. That crowd was so energized. 83,000 people! Can you imagine?
I shed some tears right along with you.
I loved this part:
"The men and women who serve in our battlefields may be Democrats and Republicans and Independents, but they have fought together and bled together and some died together under the same proud flag. They have not served a Red America or a Blue America - they have served the United States of
It was pretty cool. I just hope whoever get's in the old house can lead America on a path to pull it's head out of it's Ass and Get American's back to begin a producing nation instead of a Service Nation!... Bless us all!!!!
I cried through almost the whole thing but Angie is right, that part really did me in. My sosn's best friend died in iraq and he died because he was sooooooo proud to be serving his country as a marine. That's all he cared about. I am so very thankful someone in Washington see's that and understands. He had my vote before this, but for the first time ever, i may want to help campaign for him.
We witnessed history last night, Mo! He will help us bring our country back! :)
I am going to hear that speech if I have to spend all day downloading it. I got to hear Al Gore before I lost the radio signal from Colorado Springs. I understand why the local station did it in Spanish. Most people here have cable and got to hear it in English on TV. It would have been nice to hear it before I heard the morning commentary about it though.
Thanks for posting about the convention this week.
I am pleased to see people excited about politics. He made a good speech. I am happy that my friend Mo is hopeful this morning, needless to say he did not win my vote. I would be interested in your opinion on the commercial John McCain released yesterday that offered congratulations to Obama for his accomplishment.
Hi Mo!
Wasn't that a fabulous speech! I absolutely loved it. I agree with "the teach"....I think he will bring our country back.
I have to ask, though, on hearing John McCain's VP pick - who the heck is she? I've never even heard of her! Probably because I'm a lifelong Dem and wouldn't know most Repub. candidates or officeholders.
Have a great day!
{{{hugs}}}
Me again Mr Mo, I wanted to tell you that the Old Sarge is has tears as I listen to Sarah Palin join the McCain Campaign.
I do hope :o) He must win in order to get "my dream America" back. Even if he hold only half of the promises he agve us last night, he still would be a success in my eyes.
Have a wonderful holiday weekend, Mo Mo!
I'm glad you were able to find hope and meaning in all this. I think it's cool that you've taken the time to listen and pay such close attention to all this.
As for me, well, I guess my heart is still a bitter black lump of coal.
On the bright side, if I get crushed any more, I may become a diamond. That would be cool because I could sell my spleen for millions of dollars.
LOL @ Janna. She sounds like the Grinch, whose heart was two sizes too small!
I did my Sunday OSI haiku on the DNC.
