I grew up in Northern Kentucky, in Boone County, between Big Bone Lick and Beaver Lick.
(go ahead, laugh it up)
According to Wikipedia, Big Bone Lick State Park is located at Big Bone in Boone County, Kentucky. It is located on Beaver Road and between the communities of Beaverlick and Rabbit Hash. The name of the park comes from the Pleistocene megafauna fossils found there. The mammoths and other creatures are believed to have been drawn to this location by a salt lick. It bills itself as "the birthplace of American paleontology" a term which dates from William Clark's expedition in 1807.Many of the mammoths, bison, and giant beavers were trapped in swamps and tar pits near the salt licks, and the area is a gold mine of their Big Bone fossils.
Since I've gotten the Doodle Bug, I drew a mammoth and a giant beaver for you, even though Doodle Week is officially over. Yes, I'm addicted to Doodling.
Hmmm, are we going to have to start a Doodlers' Anonymous?

You know? I went to great efforts to not write a single thing about licking big bones and beavers in my post today. I, just for you, decided to keep this family oriented and uphold your reputation.
You went there.
You should be flogged.
With a dull flogger.
Later Y'all.

I have more doodles I'll be posting later on in the week too. :)
Dude, you totally need to get a t-shirt that says "Big Bone Lick" on it, and wear it in various public places while someone follows you around with a videocamera to catch people's reactions.
Bonus points if you do this in a church.
P.S. Where's the linky box??

Uhm... I'd love to lick a big bone, but I won't say this... could be misunderstood *g*

Bwahahahaha - oh, the pride you must have in your home town. The Mammoth totally rocks, but your beaver looks ginourmous, yet surprisingly undernourished. Hahaha!
Hey, Mo - didn't you hear that there's a new Support Group starting for all us doodlers?
Doodle on, dude!

Between the Bones and the Beavers, I'm sure every joke and pun that could be imagined has already been told. Besides the bones and beavers are interesting all by themselves.
Come to think of it, there is probably a joke in there somewhere.
Happy MM

Think of the poor trees that size of beaver would have gnawed through!
You don't have to miss Doodle Week. Keep doodling until the next one and beyond. :)

Oh what a nice doodle of a giant beaver and mammoth. Mom has never been to Kentucky before! She said she would like her own salt lick since she loves salt! Thanks for including us in your Blogosphere poem!

I like your beaver. (How can I possibly say that and not be charged with harassment?) The mammoth is cute too.
And who knew the doodle would be so addictive?

What a font of helpful information! The next time I'm in Kentucky, I'll be able to impress the people in both licks. For some reason, however, I seem to be more interested in visitng Big Bone Lick.

That is an incredibly large beaver.
