Jamie from Duward Discussion has tagged me for the 123 Book Meme, where you take the first 5 sentences from page 123 of the book nearest to you.
The book: Laurell K Hamilton's Danse Macabre ~ think vampire-romance genre, for those of you not fans of Ms. Hamilton. I like her books when I need pure escapism. Nothing takes your mind off your own woes like wondering which preternatural stud (or studs) Anita is going to have sex with next. Don't like it that she's going to town with the Were-leopard, hang on 'til the next paragraph and she'll be with one of her many Vampire consorts. Anita's main men are Jean-Claude, the Vampire Master of the city, and Richard, Alpha Male of the local Werewolf pack. Richard is more than slightly homophobic and won't have sex with Anita at the same time as any other male, regardless of species. Jean-Claude, on the other hand...
Anyway, here's our 123 excerpt from Danse Macabre:

"I agree with everything you're saying," I said slowly, "but it doesn't sound like you."
"No, I guess it doesn't." He looked slowly at Jean-Claude, and I felt that first warm trickle of his energy. "Are you playing puppet with me again?"
"I swear to you that I am not, not knowingly, but these are all things I have longed to hear you say. With you at our side, Richard, I fear no one who has come to our territory..."
