Matt-man is very good at it.
I used to be good at it.
Janna just posted that she is going to try to be better at it...
What is it? Commenting within the comments of your blog - responding to the comments left by your readers.
Prior to gmail (oh, lovely gmail, you have seduced me with your free and easy ways) I was a regular commenter-on-comments. Then, I slipped into responding via gmail.
I will join Janna's bandwagon, and give it a good Spring try -- commenting within my comment section on comments that you leave. Whew.... say that three times fast...
So check out my comments section for responses to your comments, starting today!

By the way, Inkie is doing better - less eye goopies and her appetite is excellent! I've been mixing her ampicillin into her food, and she's eating every morsel.
As for me, I took 2 Tylenol PM last night and slept through the night. I feel much better, except for my lower back pain. Yes, I know, I know, I should see a doctor...
Thanks to everyone who sent me an e-mail or left me a comment about "feel better, Mo" -- I truly appreciate it!

Why thank ya Mo...I am always amused by the ones you leave me. Well, except for the Pentagon comment yesterday...Cheers!!
Comment by Morgen on 10:53 AM
matty: well, yes, that one was almost over the line... glad I can put a bit of amusement in your day -- since you continually put a wry grin on my face with your Bagwine Ruminations!
Comment by Sunrunner on 11:11 AM
Take care of yourself while you're taking care of that cute foster kitty! My oldest has been sick too, so I feel for you both.
Comment by Morgen on 11:18 AM
sunrunner: she's doing a bit better today -- less eye-goopies, and more energy. But she's still sleeping alot. Hope your son is feeling better - I certainly have more energy today! I still have a sore throat and achy head, but I can breathe out of BOTH nostrils! (yay!)
Comment by Sparky Duck on 11:27 AM
I try and use a Monday post to respond to all my comments for the week. though I should respond in my comments, with a gmail/outlook combo its not that hard.
Comment by Morgen on 11:35 AM
sparky: oh, I don't think I could just do once a week! but that is a good idea.
Comment by Desert Songbird on 12:49 PM
Matty's place is great for reading the ongoing conversation of comments. I don't think my readers would go back and read the comments on my posts again; most of the time they're just "one hit wonders."
I'll have to think about how to do this. I might try Sparky's approach, but more often.
Also, I have two friends who never post comments. They read faithfully, but they don't post comments. This might be a way for me to incorporate their comments that they send me via e-mail.
Comment by Morgen on 12:53 PM
desert songbird: I agree - Matt-man's site has that 'conversational' feel to it - that's kinda what I had before, and lost it when I responded to comments via gmail. So, I guess that's what I'm aiming for here.
And yeah, I have friends who read and don't comment, too -- hey, guys, leave me a comment!
Comment by Claire on 1:25 PM
I try to be a good commenter in my comments. It depends on what the post is.
I definitely like the banter that you can get going.
Good news on Inkie!
Comment by Morgen on 1:36 PM
claire: you do a very good job of commenting on your comments, and you're an excellent commenter on other people's blogs, too!
sometimes I wonder where you find the time -- especially when you have a 4.5 litre bottle of whiskey to empty so you can collect pennies!
Comment by Empress Bee (of the High Sea) on 4:20 PM
oh mo honey i am good at lots of things but not this one. i just have to be me, okay? i am hither and yon all over the place and can't be still long enough to keep going back to see comments in comments. in fact, that would require twice the visits to everyone, once to comment and later to view the comment to your comment and then do you comment again? sigh... no, i don't think i am up for this. but i love you for doing it, okay?
smiles, bee
Comment by Morgen on 4:23 PM
Bee - I certainly didn't say this was for every-blogger. Some people, like matty and claire are very good at it. I used to be. I just want to see if I can do it again -- to get that 'conversational' feel in the comments. we'll see how I do....
Comment by AMAZING GRACIE on 6:19 PM
I just want to thank you for all the comments you left for me today!
I'll try coming back over here. A running dialog can be fun! You guys are so quick, though, I'd probably wind up lurking most of the time. I'll be a laughing lurker!
Right now I'm trying to get up the courage to go read your link about Dave...
Comment by Forty Paws on 6:37 PM
See, I'm still learning proper blogging etiquette since I never blogged prior to taking it up with the Forty Paws, and then that's really the cats blog, and so when sometimes I've seen the blog owner comment back in the comments, then I'm confused if that's the way to do it because I only go to a site once a day and find I don't hit many sites per day even at that rate. I do have 10 cats to take care of and a house after all!!!!
Well, good luck with the commenting within commenting.....
Luf, Maw
Comment by Janna on 6:57 PM
Yay! Thanks for jumping on the bandwagon. :)
I definitely understand the lower back pain thing. I have it too, really bad sometimes, depending on how long I have to stay on my feet. Lately the pain's been in the heel of my right foot, too. I wonder if I have a bone spur there or something?? It hurts a lot to put my weight on it.
Anyway, here's to comments!!!! :)
Comment by Bond on 8:06 PM
Here's my comment...waiting for your reply.

hi bond.

Comment by Travis on 10:54 PM
I, too, have taken the Janna pledge. Usually the first thing I do when I start my blog rounds is respond to comments.
I've been a little neglectful over the past few days. But I am determined to get back in the swing.
Comment by JohnH985 on 11:54 PM
I'm bad about leaving comments to the people that comment on my site. I need to get better.
Comment by Last Minute Lyn on 7:50 AM
I Love pansies
They remind me of people all lined up ready to happily greet you
Comment by Morgen on 8:43 AM
gracie: you're welcome. you & I are proof that 2 people from such different philosophies and places can be good friends who care about each other!
40 paws maw: there is no strict blogging etiquette. 40 Paws is YOUR blog - you treat your comments however you want to! I'm just saying I wanted more of a "conversational" tone to mine. But I've done many things in the past year - just read comments & not responded, I've done the conversational thing, and I've done the 'respond in e-mail' thing. So after more than a year, I'm still trying to find the groove that works for me!
trav: good for you! watch out for that bandwagon jumping, though, you might sprain something!
janna: I think I hurt something jumping on your bandwagon. I hope you have insurance on that thing!
bond: my silver haired, silver-tongued friend. I know I have been remiss in commenting (and reading) your site, and I'm thrilled and honored that you grace me not only with your presence but with such a witty comment! :)
john: I can't access your site - all the music players play at once and it crashes Firefox. Sorry. I'm glad to see you here, but I just can't visit your blog. I've tried several times, and the music players all playing at once crash me.
lmlyn: I agree: pansies are such delightful little bundles of sunshine, I can't help but smile when I see them!
