1. What's the scariest movie you've ever seen?
A movie that used to scare me when I was a kid was Gargoyles. Of course, recently, we bought it on video, and it was way more cheezy than scary, but it still made me get the willies. Something about the night scenes in the desert with the gargoyles freaked me out.
Of course, the scariest piece of film I ever saw was that short grainy clip from the 1970's of Bigfoot walking along that dry creek bed. I still have nightmares about Bigfoot!
2. What was your favorite Halloween Costume from childhood?
My step-father got my sister & me some cool sparkly prince & princess costumes from a theatre's wardrobe department sale. Of course, this was the very early 1980's and these costumes were pink, purple, and silver sparkly shiny scratchy material. For some reason, my step-dad thought that we should be Space Prince & Princess, so we wore these shiny costumes with silver face makeup. But I had a cool long purple cape that was lined in silver, so I thought it was just the greatest costume ever.
3. If you had an unlimited budget, what would your Fantasy Costume be for this Halloween?
I would want to be Ursula the Sea-Witch from Disney's Little Mermaid.
4. When was the last time you went Trick Or Treating?
I took some under-privileged kids trick-or-treating at a mall a few years ago, as a volunteer project with Target. Does that count?
5. What's your favorite Halloween Candy?

6. Tell us about a scary nightmare you had.
Oh, I am the queen of nightmares. I have several a week. But, I used to have a re-curring nightmare that I was in these glowing red cavernous tunnels underneath our house where I grew up, being pursued by an evil little creature called The Wishbone Man. Someday this October, I shall have to devote a whole post to The Wishbone Man.
7. What is your Supernatural Fear?
Yes, we all know: Bigfoot
8. What is your Creepy-Crawlie Fear?
Cockroaches. I love all animals and even most creepy-crawlies that would gross out some people (like spiders and snakes) but the common house-hold cockroach is the one that totally wiggins me out. Thank the gods, I've never lived in a house where they were rampant, but after I'd moved out of my mom's home in Kentucky to go to college, they started tearing up the land around the house to convert it into a sub-division. And suddenly, there was a cockroach invasion. One warm summer's night, the outside wall of the house was alive with roaches! They were sunning themselves in this huge mass on the outside of the house! I've never seen anything like it! I thought roaches didn't like light or sunlight! This plague of roaches was a writhing, shimmering mass about twelve feet long and four feet wide, and all those roach wings in the setting sunlight made the creepiest rustling noise like a giant snake's hiss! Holy crap! I got back in the car and went back to college -- screw anything that might've been left in that house!
9. Tell us about a time when you saw a ghost, or heard something go Bump in the night.
When I was in college, I was working on a soundtrack for a mainstage theatre production, and I was up on the tech balcony late at night. Across the theatre, I heard the loft door open and light from the hallway outside poured onto the catwalk. I saw the silhouette of a person standing in the doorway. I yelled out, "Who's there?" And suddenly the door was shut.
I ran across the cat-walk and checked the door. It was locked. You had to have a key to open it, so no un-suspecting students would wander in to the darkened loft.
I called out into the hall, but no one was there. I went down to the elevator, and I saw a misty form step right into the closed elevator doors. I hit the elevator button, and the door opened immediately (because I had been the last one to use it) and there was NO ONE inside the elevator! I told this story to the technical director of the theatre the next morning, and he said when they were building the facility, someone had died in the elevator shaft and I wasn't the first student working late at night to have seen that ghost! I was a believer in ghosts before that, but man, now was I convinced for real!
10. Would you ever stay in a real Haunted House overnight?
Yes. I believe in ghosts, and spirits, etc. I'm not saying I wouldn't be scared, but I'd like the opportunity. That said, I do not want to live in a haunted house.
11. Are you a traditionalist (just a face) Jack O'Lantern Carver, or do you get really creative with your pumpkins?
I'm a face traditionalist. The whole layering the rind and intricate carvings of Jack O'Lanterns is beyond me. I like a good old-fashioned scary face. If I need a template to carve a Jack O'Lantern, then it's not for me.
12. How much do you decorate your home for Halloween?
Oh, boy, do we decorate! This year, we've scaled back our decorations considerably, because we have two seven month old kitties new this year. But we go all out -- decorations inside and out. It goes so far as we take down all the family photos off the bookshelves in the living room and replace them with cool, creepy black and white cemetery framed pictures.
13. What do you want on your Tombstone?
I suppose some people will say "sausage & pepperoni" but I'm thinking about headstone inscriptions here --- maybe yesterday's Funeral Music Meme made me think that way. I supposed it would be trite to say "Here Lies Mo, It Was His Time To Go".
